Indica Flower - Indica Effects and Best Indica Strains

What Is Indica Flower?

Indica is a type of cannabis that is known for its calming, relaxing effect. There are three major types (the other two being Sativa and hybrid).

If we're talking about marijuana cannabis, Indica is high in CBD and low in THC. Of course, since we sell hemp (not weed) here, all our products are low in THC. You can get the CBD benefits without the high. Since hemp must have THC levels below .3% to be legal in all 50 states, it's a great way to find relief without being "stoned".

Indica cannabis is the original plant. In it's natural environment, Indica grew with dense buds. The plant is short and stout, with woody plant stalks. Indica typically has wider and thicker leaves than Sativa.

Indica plants began in the foothills of the Himalayas, a rugged environment. As a result, it needed to be hardy. Sativa came later, when people began to transplant Indica into other climates. As a result, the plant's profile changed.

When smoked, Indica typically has an "earthy" terpene profile. Terpenes are, essentially, what gives cannabis its flavor.

Indica Meaning

The name Indica comes from the original region where the plant was grown. It originated from the Hindu Kush mountain range, a part of the Himalayas. "Hindu Kush" evolved into the "Indica" name for the plant.

Some people joke that "Indica" is actually slang for "In-Da-Couch," because Indica tends to have a more relaxing or sedating effect than Sativa.

Indica Effects

Some people want to be able to consume cannabis for the many health and medical benefits, but they don't like the "high" that comes along with it. This is where hemp cannabis is a great step up! The low levels of THC mean you can't get high from it - but you can still enjoy it.

CBD without the THC still has a pleasant sensation. Some people think of it like aromatherapy. I like to compare it to a massage - as you ingest it, you can feel your body relax. This is because there are still about 100 other cannabinoids housed in cannabis, even when you remove the THC. CBD stands for cannabidiol, only ONE of the cannabinoids available.

People who suffer from nausea often find that Indica can help ease this, and stimulate their appetite. It has a relaxing, almost sedative effect. It can be helpful for pain sufferers, especially people who deal with sudden "acute" flare ups such as a migraine.

Indica is thought of as "for the body." The primary effects work on relieving the body, while Sativa does more for your mind (such as help with anxiety, or give you focus). Indica can be used as a muscle relaxant or to help combat sleeplessness and insomnia.

Because of this, however, you may not want to smoke Indica before starting a big day. It's relaxing - sometimes too relaxing. If you're going to need a lot of energy for the day ahead, avoid loading up on Indica first. Some people say that Indica gives you "couch disease." Use it when you're ready to relax and hang out in front of the TV, because that's exactly where you'll end up!

How To Get Quality Hemp

No matter where you go, make sure you're getting high quality hemp cannabis. Many people have tried low grade industrial hemp, not knowing this is a poor representation of the industry.

At Dreamland Organics, we hand feed our plants with compost teas. Our hemp is done in small batches for the best quality control. It's completely organic - we don't use any sprays, chemicals, or other products to increase our production but decrease your satisfaction. We smoke this stuff too, and we only want the highest quality results. We're not going to push out inferior, mismanaged crops.

Look for a full spectrum hemp product. This means that it includes all of the naturally occurring components of the cannabis plant. This is the best way to get a truly therapeutic effect, and the desired "entourage effect."

Some companies reduce their THC levels by processing out high levels of THC - but this results in a heavily altered, unnatural product. Most of the benefits have been "stripped away". Find someone who produces hemp with naturally occurring low THC levels.

Avoid Delta 8 products. Here at Dreamland, we don't sell them - we think they're dangerous. While technically legal in some states at this time, they can produce an unpleasant reaction. We recommend avoiding any company that offers them. Buyer beware - with Delta 8, you might not be getting what you think you are. It's not the same sensation as true hemp, and some people find the reaction is just as mind-altering as weed.

Best Indica Strains

Indica strains of hemp that we offer include:

Sheeba is probably the best Indica strain for people who need the effects of Indica, but like the profile of Sativas better.

Unlike most Indicas, it has a fruity terpene profile. It has the flavor of overripe blackberries, with a hint of mint. Some people find this flavor more pleasing than the earthy tones of more typical Indicas. The buds are also airy and light, more common for Sativa than Indica.

But don't let that fool you - Sheeba packs a punch, and definitely "reacts" like an Indica. It's great for improving your mood, as it covers you in a warm blanket of calm.

It can also help ease aches and pains, provide relaxation, and give you a sense of euphoria. Total CBD content is 11%, making it a good choice for someone who needs to relax but doesn't want to get knocked out.

One review by customer Matthew Prattos says:

"The most interesting bag smell of any flower I've come across. Smooth! Definitely hits like a blueberry strain. When smoked or vaped it tastes like airheads and other childhood sweet candy. 10/10"

Kimbo Kush

Kimbo Kush is an exclusive strain to Dreamland Organics. This is a classic Indica, with a note of brewed coffee flavor and typical gassy overtones.

It's not for lightweights - at 17% CBD, it's got a potent punch (just like MMA fighter Kimbo Slice, and yes, that's who it's named after!)

Kimbo Kush is a great choice for relaxation. But it can also be an effective pain reliever, and ease insomnia. It cuts through any tension you're holding after just a few pulls. This one is best for after a long day, when you finally have a chance to unwind and can crash on the couch for the rest of the day!

If you need to use it during the day, and still keep motivated, just pair it with coffee. That way you can enjoy it but still have your head in the game.

Studies are inconclusive, but there are some reports that Kimbo Kush and other Indica strains might be useful for Parkinson's Disease. In fact, hemp seems to be better than marijuana, as the cannabinoids are what's useful. You don't need the THC from weed to provide relief in the first place.

As always, opinions in this blog do not replace medical care. Information should not be used to treat, diagnose, or attempt to cure any ailment or illness. If you have a serious medical condition, discuss your concerns with a licensed medical care provider.

Sapphire is a unique profile, with a gassy burnt rubber hue and an over ripe mango finish. This one is perfect for people who just want a nice, relaxing smoke. You can even use it with your bedtime tea and just "chill." At 15% CBD, it'll ease your worries and calm your mind, but shouldn't hit too fast.

A reviewer notes:

"It had the best and most unique smelling cannabis flowers I've ever smelled. Very moist, SUPER SMOOTH vapor from a Mighty, tasty, and the effects are strong and last a good 45 mins to an hour."

Blue Diamond

Blue Diamond is a sister to Sheeba, the first strain on our list. It's similar, but with a more pronounced taste and a candy-like flavor.

It's also a bit more potent. The CBD content is only 12%, but don't be fooled. Thanks to the full spectrum hemp, the entourage effect, and the interplay between the cannabinoids, it feels stronger than that.

This one is ideal for immediate pain relief. It's also a great choice for when you're stressed or overworked and need to calm down. And of course, like all our products, it's completely organic, raised in living soil, hand trimmed and slow cured. We provide the absolute best craft hemp out there, and only give products that "put some respect on your lungs".
